![]() Daily Grooming
I spend at least 30 min everyday to brush her fur ,make it as often enough so that large mats never have a chance to form. (changing of coats happen at about ten to twelve months of age). At this stage you will find hard to brush during this stage, because they mat faster than you can brush This stage usually lasts for about three weeks, and once the puppy has changed from his coat to his adult coat, brushing will be much easier.
Always begin with the feet, legs, and belly and work upward to the center of the back. Do not rip at the coat, and lift the top of the brush away as you reach the ends of the hair instead of turning it into the coat and twisting it downward, which will break off the ends of the coat. Be gentle, but be sure to brush all the way down to the skin, using your fingers to break up any tangles the brush will not go through easily. Special attention needed for areas inside the legs and around the neck and ears, where mats are most likely to form and most likely to be overlooked. And lastly use a comb on the face and feet and under the ears, if necessary.
Bath
I bath her once every 4 days. I used to bath her frequently but if causes her to catch cold. I would normally prepare the below items :
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will always brush her fur to make sure there is no mat and it will help to prevent mat during bath . Holding her securely under its chest with one hand, wet the whole body ( except the head) with lukewarm running water, shampoo the body and rinse well. Apply conditioner and rinse well after a few minutes.
As for the head , you'll need to take extra care on the nose . Make sure no water in its nose . For me I used a wet sponge to carefully wet the head and clean the hair with a no-tear baby shampoo.
Lastly , warp her with the bath towel and uses hand dryer, low heat is normally to blow her dry . Avoid blowing the warm air directly into the face .Make sure you start at the chest this will also prevent the puppies from catching cold. You'll see some red rashes if the coats are left to dry by it self . The Hand dryer is a necessity . If puppy shivers,it is usually due to nerves rather than from being cold. The toothbrush is used to clean the whiskers . Ears should be cleaned with a cotton swab
Eyes
Special attention should be given to them daily. Their eyes can easy get irritated by dust or dirt or a stray hair to get into the eye . Use the daily eye wash , you will be able to get hold of these product from any pet's store.
Comb the mustache and topknot daily, and clean the inside corners of the eyes with a damp washcloth or a piece of cotton soaked in warm water. Do not pull the hair too tightly or the dog will rub at it.
Trimming Nails
After bath is the best time cut toenails since the nails are softer when wet. Always use Use proper nail cutter . Cut the nails to where they hook over being careful not to cut into the red streak that can be seen. If cut too deep and the nail bleeds, use styptic powder to stop the bleeding. Special attention to any dewclaws. As they do not touch the ground, they will not wear down naturally like the other nails.
